Texas Senator Ted Cruz is hitting the ground running in the Lone Star State following his reelection victory.

The Republican thanked voters for supporting his campaign in a social media post Thursday.

He noted the surge in participation in this year’s midterm election, which earned him a second term after defeating his Democrat challenger in a tight race.

Senator Cruz said despite the progress made since he was first elected in 2012, there is still much work to be done. His statement builds on his message during his victory speech.

“We have been delivering results and now we need to go back to work and keep delivering results — more jobs, more security, more freedom,” he stated.

Cruz’s win further expands the Republican majority in the upper chamber, clearing the way for the president’s policies and judicial nominations.
