Vice President Mike Pence weighs-in on the summit between President Trump and Vladimir Putin.

The vice president welcomed the bilateral meeting, saying President Trump put the U.S. national interest first during the summit, while speaking at the Commerce Department Monday.

Pence admitted there are still disagreements between the U.S. and Russia, but dialogue could help alleviate some of the tensions.

This comes after President Trump and Putin held talks and a press conference in Helsinki Monday.

Pence said the summit couldn’t have gone better, adding it was an example of “deeply productive” diplomacy.
